Should I be a sole trader or a limited company as a contractor?

It depends on your rate, your IR35 position and whether you'll retain profit. We run the actual numbers for your situation — for a lot of inside-IR35 work a company adds cost without benefit, while outside-IR35 work often justifies one.

What does a £400 day rate actually net me?

Roughly, billing around £88k a year nets about £56k as a sole trader, a little more via a company outside IR35 (more still with pension planning), and meaningfully less inside IR35. We'll model your exact figures.
